renovation and remodelling a grade-II listed oak-frame barn
The first stage of the project at Burgess Farm was to renovate the barn to provide a kitchen, bathroom, and gallery bedroom with the main living space to be used for special occasions and by guests. The barn was stripped internally, preserving only the original structure. New sheepswool insulation was added and finished with a lime plaster to help the original timber structure breathe. The new works are finished in white to help highlight the original exposed oak roof.
