burgess farm, upshire, essex

Comprehensive overhaul and extension of a grade-II listed farmhouse located in the Upshire Conservation Area in Essex.
This project has been realised in three phases; the first was to renovate the grade-II listed barn and install a ground source bore-hole heat pump. The second phase was to undertake a refurbishment and extension of the farmhouse including complete remodelling of the rear facade and installation of underfloor heating. For the third phase we obtained planning permission for the construction of a new indoor swimming pool. The design proposals have been sensitively developed in order to gain planning permission and listed building consent in Metropolitan Open Land (green belt).
