Feasibility
& Concept Design: We undertake a detailed
site analysis, commission surveys where necessary,
respond to planning policy, and work closely with the
client to fully develop a brief. From this we generate
design ideas and options for further discussion and
development. We can also advise on other consultants that
may be required.
Planning
Process: We work closely with planning
authorities and local communities to try to secure the
best possible planning consents. In particular we have
significant experience working in the historic
environment, in conservation areas and on listed
buildings. We also have valuable experience at appeal,
including written reps, hearings and public inquiry.
Detailed
Design: We are experienced in producing
drawings and specifications for tender and we work
closely with Building Control Inspectors to achieve
optimum results. We are able to provide the services of
Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015, if
required.
Sustainability
& Carbon Reduction: We are committed to helping
our clients contribute as much as they can to reducing
the environmental impact of their project both during
construction as well as in operation. We are keen
proponents of the "long-life, loose-fit,
low-energy" principle and work closely with our
clients to see how this can be applied to have the
optimum effect in terms of both carbon as well as
economic cost.
Cost
Control: We are acutely aware of the
importance of cost and have the discipline and rigour to
work through cost schedules in detail. Budgets available
for construction, consultant fees, statutory charges and
VAT are considered at an early stage, and are regularly
reviewed to ensure that the design is correctly tailored
to suit the budget.
Production
Information & Construction: We produce
working drawings and written specifications for
construction. We can provide advice on which building
contract to use and are able to provide JCT Contract
Administration services. Throughout the construction
period we visit site, review progress of the work and
attend or chair site meetings until completion. We enjoy
the construction stage. We work well with good
contractors and have a proactive hands-on approach.
We
regularly work client-side on traditional JCT contracts,
as well as both client-side or under novation to the
contractor on design-and-build contracts.
